Classes are kept small
There are few children in each class. A teacher notices what your child is struggling with in the first few days, not weeks later. A topic that was not understood does not get left behind.
CLLC Turkey is a private school in Beykoz, Istanbul, covering kindergarten, primary school and middle school — from age three through Grade 8. We teach the full Turkish national curriculum alongside the English-language teaching experience CLLC has built in Canada over more than twenty years.
What we are trying to build is straightforward: a school a child walks into without anxiety, where their name and their character are known. Learning starts there.
We are building a school where honesty, empathy and responsibility are taught throughout the day rather than in a timetabled lesson. We would be glad to hold a place for your child.

Social-Emotional Learning
Academic success begins with emotional success. That is why social-emotional learning sits at the centre of our school — not as a theory or a decoration, but as something practised every day.
Here, children learn:
Bilingual Education
The two languages do not replace one another; they feed one another. Children deepen their roots in Turkish while using English as a natural part of the school day rather than as one more subject on the timetable.
What this means for your family:
The Canada Pathway
That is why CLLC Turkey offers a path that starts in Turkey rather than abroad. Taking it is not required and it is never presented as the goal. A family that would rather stay continues at the same school, here.
What your child gains along the way:
Our Design Decisions
How a school is designed shapes every day your child spends inside it. We would rather set out the six decisions we made, and the reasons behind them, plainly.
There are few children in each class. A teacher notices what your child is struggling with in the first few days, not weeks later. A topic that was not understood does not get left behind.
Academic qualification is where we start, not where we stop. We also look at how a teacher speaks to a child, at their patience, and at the way they read a child who is having a hard day. Your child will spend their days with these people.
Social and emotional learning is built into the day rather than timetabled. Children learn to pause when they are angry, to settle a disagreement by talking it through, and to say they see it differently without wounding anyone.
The Turkish academic program is taught in full. English is not a burden added on top; because it lives inside play, activity and ordinary conversation, a child learns it by using it rather than by memorizing it.
Where children sit, where they rest, how they move at break time — all of it was discussed before the plans were drawn. The space is not there to impress visitors; it is there so that children are comfortable all day.
CLLC’s twenty years of running schools in Canada apply here too. The summer program and the move to Canada for high school are optional. The decision belongs to the family, and it is never presented as the one right path.

For years, my visits to Turkey were short. They were business trips, rarely longer than two weeks. I must have come and gone more than ten times, and not once did I have the chance to really live here.
Then, in March 2020, everything changed. What began as another short visit turned, unexpectedly, into a four-month stay. Those four months left a mark on me that I have never been able to forget.

Behind everything we teach at school is one idea: to raise a child who is not only capable, but good. Aly Rajab talks about that idea in his own video series. Aly Rajab — Chairman, CLLC
Explore the seriesCLLC Canada has worked with the same four attitudes for more than twenty years. We are beginning with those same four in Turkey, because what they produce together is an environment a child walks into without anxiety.
A child who feels well is the first condition of a child who learns. Our teachers know every child by name, by temperament and by how they are on the day; they ask how a child is before the lesson begins.
Children do not always put what they need into words. Our teachers watch what happens in the classroom closely, and notice early when a student is struggling, when a mood has shifted, or when a friendship has broken.
Children deserve as much respect as adults do. We listen to their ideas all the way through, we take their questions seriously, and we do not raise our voices when we speak to them.
Every child brings their own day, their own home and their own worries to school. When something goes wrong we try to understand why first, and then look for a way forward together with the child.
What these four produce together is not a slogan but something a child feels every morning. A child who is not afraid to ask a question, to make a mistake or to say “I don’t know” is a child who is open to learning.
This is the foundation of the relationship we have had with our students at CLLC Canada for more than twenty years. We are building the same foundation in Turkey.
