OUR TEACHERS
These are the people your child will spend the day with
A school's building, its programme and its facilities all matter. But what your child will remember about school is the teacher in the classroom.
That is why choosing teachers is the work we take the most care over. Academic qualification is where we start, not where we finish. What we are really looking at is how that person speaks to a child.
How we choose our teachers
Qualifications and experience tell you what a teacher knows. They do not tell you how that teacher will work with a child. We look at four things.
- Academic qualification
The right training and grounding in their subject is our starting condition. Nobody moves on to the later stages without it.
- How they talk to a child
How a teacher addresses a child, how they receive a question, and what they say when a mistake is made — for us, these are decisive.
- Patience
A teacher whose tone does not change while explaining the same thing for the third time is the reason a child keeps asking questions.
- The way they read a child
Noticing the child who has gone quiet, pulled back, or changed suddenly. This cannot be taught, but it can be looked for.
Our team
Because we keep our classes small, our teachers know every student. They are in a position to tell you what your child enjoys and where your child is struggling.
-
Elif
Visual Arts
She opens up a space where a child can say with colour, line and shape what they could not say in words.
-
Esra
Mathematics
She asks not for the right answer but for how you got there. An attempt that came out wrong counts as part of the learning.
-
Emily
English
She does not confine the language to the lesson. She puts it inside play, conversation and the ordinary talk of the day.
-
Mehmet
Science
He does not demonstrate the experiment and move on. He wants the child to predict, to try, and to interpret the result themselves.
How contact with teachers works
As important as a school's teaching staff is being able to reach them. We build the relationship between parent and school on these four principles.
-
You do not wait for the end of term
Your child's progress is shared with you regularly. If support is needed in some area, you are told in good time.
-
You do not need a special day to ask a question
When something is on your mind, you do not have to wait for a parents' evening to reach the teacher.
-
The teacher knows your child
Because classes are small, every teacher can tell you things about your child specifically, not in general terms.
-
Privacy is respected
A matter concerning your child is not raised in front of the class. And what is shared with you is not shared with third parties.
Would you like to join our team?
Meeting teachers who are strong in their subject and who enjoy working with children is always worth our time. You are welcome to send us your CV for upcoming openings.
Better still, come and meet them
What you read about a teacher only takes you so far. On a campus visit you can walk through the classrooms, meet our teachers, and put your questions to them directly.
